Steam & Excursion > 1522 at Union Station

This photo was taken in May 1988 (I think). SLSF 1522 was making it's triumphant return to St. Louis Union Station after a restoration by the St. Louis Steam Train Association. 1522 filled the bill for us steam starved railfans in the midwest. I was in the Navy back then and in my whites ... as I recall, one of the crew asked me if I wanted to ride in the cab as they switched.

Ya think? Return with us now to those golden days of yesterday ....

Yes, kudos to Don and all the SLSTA guys for what they accomplished with the 1522.
