More, forgot all about these pic's of 3985!

Found another picture of UP 3985 I took on Oct. 12, 2010. This image was taken at the west end of Calhoun Bluffs just east of Topeka.
Thanks for looking, Wes.

Wowee, very nice! Although we had yet to meet, I was behind you on the dike about a mile east of Proubsky's Curve. I hop-scotched past the station and chased this train all the way up to Marysville where it camped overnight. I bagged it at Lower Silver Lake Rd (west Topeka), Emmett, Onaga & Frankfort on that chase...

Yup, looks like God was in charge of all, the sky, land scenics, the steel and iron for rails and UP3985, and yes, even the humans and their God given talents bringing the scene together with train operation and Wes with his camera.  A great shot for sure, and thanks Wes for displaying here!

Thank you to all for the nice comments.  Yes, God did have a hand in this I believe. Art I think you were standing right behind me when I took this.  Here is the picture I started with. It was in RAW/NEF format.
Thanks again to all of you and the Man upstairs, Wes

That is a beautiful photo -- the one at the top of this post.  Yes, it does look  lot like a painting.  What a locomotive!  Thanks so much for posting this gem here!

George, that B&W version is a stunning rendition of the so so color photo. Thank you for the conversion of that photo of my all time favorite locomotive. It is definitely a candidate of the IOTD.

OK, "stunning" yes. But "timeless", with two yellow auxiliary water tenders?  I don't think so.

Yes Timeless from an Artistic point of view, and its in beautiful black and white too!
And yes I know the 2 aux tenders are there, just commenting the overall scene from an Artistic angle.

They aren't yellow in the B&W rendering but if you're going to nitpick, the flags having 50 stars on them CERTAINLY date the shot as well. 😂

Well, they sure aren't black in the "B&W rendering" above, as they match the train, and NOT the black tender of the 3985.
