For the second year in a row, railroad fans will be able to take control of historic steam locomotive no. 765 for six miles of running with a three car train.The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, Inc.’s Throttle Time event will be held on September 24th and operate between the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s Fitzwater Yard and Brecksville, Ohio.

THROTTLE TIME SESSION

• 30 minutes of Throttle Time: $999.00
• 30 minutes of Firing Time: $299.00
• GoPro add-on for Throttle Time: $99.00

Participants will observe and receive instruction for approximately 30 minutes and operate the 765 for approximately 30 minutes at speeds up to 15MPH. Participants can also add 30 minutes in the fireman’s seat and professionally captured and edited video of the experience to their ticket. All participants must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and be in good health.

Last year we hosted over 40 partcipants, incluing Norfolk Southern engineer and 765 crew member Mike Huhn, who bought a ticket for his father Carl. Here's video from their trip aboard the time machine...

We feed the 765 a steady diet of TrainOrders posts ;)
And the engine is pulling three cars.

So, I get that you need a certain amount of change in your cushions, but Just Go Do It.

If you REALLLY do like it, THEN be sure to do Poland....

With the 765,  and your chance to run it, you gotta do it while you’ve got the chance —- Nationally, things are changing suddenly these days, you never know when the last chance ended, ‘til it’s GONE.

Couldn't agree more Wes! Just seeing the reactions on my dad's face and getting to experience what I dreamed of doing my whole life was worth every cent of the ticket price. I was incredibly happy to have him experience a piece of the dream I've had since I was a little kid. I hope I could inspire fathers and their sons everywhere to do the same thing.

I regret not taking the opportunity to take advantage of the offer last year. This year's vacations do not line up, but last year I made sure I was in the valley - riding the train one day and chasing it the next. It was one of those "excuse me sweetheart, but it is train time" things. She enjoyed the train ride, the runbys and seeing me happy - even though trains are not her thing. I felt a third day of "train time" would have been pushing my luck (and her patience).

I hope you keep offering throttle time in years to come. It is certainly a welcome opportunity and I'd consider it well worth the price. I just need to get it past the wife. :)
