Nice!  And, of course, the wonder of it is how close you can get to recreating these shots today!   (Well, with the help of a bit of 3rd rail up to Alamoso maybe...   )  But honestly- it's truely timeless RRing on the C&T.

Oh -- those are all really nice photos!  Timeless.... just ordinary work out in the wide open West, where few people went.  Thank you very much for taking these gems and for posting them here for all of us to enjoy.

'm pretty sure the first one is taken in Chama, not Durango.

I guess I am going to have to agree with you after looking at recent photos I have of the coaling tower at Chama and also other photos from the 1960 trip.  484 and 489 were the power on the EB from Durango and as the photos below show, 484 was in the lead.  It appears to only have been east of Chama when the locomotives were split to top and tail the train that 489 was in the lead.  Thanks for pointing out the error.  All 7-10-60.  I corrected the original posting.

1.  Preparing to depart Durango
2.  Pagosa Junction (?) (That is what my notes show but could it actually be Durango?  It kind of looks like 1. and 2. were actually taken from exactly the same spot, me having just turned around.)  I'll post one more that really is Pagosa Junction.
3.  Near Oxford
