And I commend the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad for allowing the operation such as this. It is a demonstration of what the railroad and its engineers can do. It is one thing to doublehead locomotives and another to put the two trains together in this configuration with the second engineer having those cars and their drawbars ahead of them. This requires a higher level attention to the operation. Kudos to the engine crews.
I can appreciate this, as I once had the opportunity to tie on to the rear of a stalled westbound freight just east of Burns Wyoming with the 844 which I was operating and our short train and shove them 30 miles up the hill to Archer, some 30 miles. I will be there in two weeks and looking forward to another year's ride on the CATS.
