When you are touring the Tracks Across Borders Byway please respect the no trespassing signs.

When Rich and I were taking the photos we were not trespassing we were there with permission and had two escorts ( Edward and Xavier) from the Southern Ute tribe.

That was a beautiful old church that stood into the 1990's.

Here is the church, still standing.  I'm not sure of the exact date I took these, but most likely between 1996-97.

This area along the DRGW RoW as it crosses Ute Lands is kind of a mixed blessing. One one hand it has a “King Tut’s Tumb” aspect- the RR as it was abandoned, relatively untouched, which is a thrill to explore.
But at the same time, it’s slowly “Going Back to God” at its own pace- every year there’s a bit less to see.
It’s not timeless, rather- it’s a graphic display of time.

The standing struture was the school and the ruins was the church. The community was across the river. More photos will be coming.

My guess is a mix of concrete and dirt.

The ranch forman (Cody) told us today that the owner is talking about rebuilding the church.
