It's Snowdown Weekend in Durango!
Author: LJGross

This weekend marks the annual Snowdown celebration in Durango, with a myriad of activities including a massive nighttime parade with illuminated floats, an all-original stage production, and the annual Saturday morning balloon launch pictured here. For the occasion the D&S schedules the Cascade Turn out earlier than normal and it pauses for about 20 minutes in the Animas Valley to allow the passengers to disembark and observe the festivities.

This year a cloud bank was just moving in as the balloons were being inflated, but most were able to launch before the winds began getting unpredictable, grounding the rest.

Always something happening in the little town of Durango!

A Kodachrome moment but without the Kodachrome.  Beautiful.

Beautiful shots, so nice not to have to put up with Mr Day's over saturated and under exposed
posts.
