Steam & Excursion > A Big Day At Oregon Coast Scenic as Skookum Starts Her Test Runs!Date: 02/05/19 18:19 A Big Day At Oregon Coast Scenic as Skookum Starts Her Test Runs! Author: LoggerHogger Another milestone was achieved today at Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad with the Skookum beginning her test runs.
The timing work that has taken the past couple weeks is done and the final details for this long restoration project are being attended to. Today the Skookum covered over 6 miles as the OCSR crews began the break in of the engine's running gear. This process along with the final details on the engine will be in process as we lead up to the TRAINS photo charters next month. If you don't have your ticket for the TRAINS charter yet, time is short. We only have a small handful left. If you want to see Skookum running log trains in her natural environment, this is your one chance before she heads to California. Martin By the way, the smokestack in the image was first built by the Whitney Company for the mill they once had in Garibaldi. It was the Whitney Company that bought Skookum from Baldwin in 1910 and gave her the name "Skookum". Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 02/06/19 04:13 by LoggerHogger.
