The mighty 800's doublehead a train through Eaton, Colorado.

Northbound through Eaton in the late 1930's, these two UP 800 locomotives are hauling. I don't have an exact date because Art had all his negatives in a shoebox with no organization to them. This train appears to be gathering speed, headed upgrade after the Greeley station stop 10 miles south of Eaton.

Looks to me like he is coming into the station....Signal at right, station overhang at right, and guy sitting down there(may be a worker though).
Regardless cool shot and enjoy these early ones.

If this photo was in the late 1930s, the 800 in the rear would be a FEF-2 series, which looks likely by the sand dome shape.  FEF-3 were not built until 1944.

Looks like train 221 didn't exist until 1941. Didn't last long?

How many FEF-1s had centipede tenders? I assume they were all built with three axle trucks and received larger tenders later on?

Far s we know FEF-1s only got centipede
tenders from scrapped engines?

Five FEF-1s got retired Centipedes when their original tenders became Turbine Fuel tenders. (801, 804, 805, 808 & 814)
