SLIM Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line
Author: steamfan49

Southern Pacific #18 huffing and puffing around the high line on the Durango & Silverton.  Monday February 18, 2019

Well, the first video has disappeared.  Don't know where to, but I'll try again.

ER..  Did you mean "Slim" Princess?
That is the original title given to the Owens Valley SP Narrow Gauge opeation and especially 2-6-0 No. 9 in the latter years.

Probably yes and the #9 is a 4-6-0 but hey gotta do something waiting for the video. Especially timely considering that
D&S has suspended passenger operations, even the flanger runs couldn't keep up with the snow.

Wait, wasn't there a video? I first saw this thread and it said "video encoding" but more than an hour later there's no video.

I'm just curious, what do the D&S engine crews think of # 18 ?  I know it doesn't have the power of their 2-8-2's ,but do they like the oil firing, and the way the engine handles and steams?
Thanks

Well, could be, but it is mp4 which should work. Also under the MB and time limits, so still don't know what the issue is.  However, I have sent in a request asking to look into whatever the issue is, so maybe at some point the video will be up and running.  Stay tuned.

The clearing of the tracks with the flanger wouldn’t be the problem, the main concern from what I saw was they were worried with the giant influx of snow that snow slides were going to be triggered.
