Steam & Excursion > Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take ThreeDate: 02/22/19 11:34 Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: steamfan49 Okay, I think I've got the video loaded and ready to go this time. Video on prior attempts was 4k and Todd informed me that he can't handle 4k, so I converted to lower resolution and we should be good to go.
The video is of Southern Pacific #18 chugging up the High Line on Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. In the snow. It was big fun being there and I hope you enjoy viewing her huff and puff up the grade as much as I enjoyed videoing her. hike in (from Rockwood) to get these shots. Out Date: 02/22/19 12:10 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: mcdeo WOW. Simply amazing.
On a side note, I know she's staying into the summer, last I heard. Are they going to publish special runs? Hopefully! Mike ONeill Parker, CO Date: 02/22/19 13:01 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: tomstp GOOD video, good chuff.

Well, it isn't superheated and has one less drive axle, so my guess would be,,,,,,,,,not even close to one of their 2-8-2s. Date: 02/22/19 14:17 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: callum_out Yah but it says "Southern Pacific" on the tender which adds at least 100 hp! Should be a bit more than RGS 20 which
will make a nice comparison when CRM gets it back and loans it to the D&S (hint-hint?)_ Out Date: 02/22/19 15:11 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: kurt765 Thanks for sharing. That is absolutely spectacular. It's awesome that she's getting a great workout and getting to play in the snow. Snow isn't too common in the Owens Valley.

Imagining it 100 years ago climbing Sage Hen Summit in the snow, or Mt. Montgomery Pass. Stan Praisewater Date: 02/22/19 16:26 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: steamfan49 mcdeo Wrote:

Glad you liked it. I think there will be a number of special runs during their lease period. I would check out the D&S website for more info. Question for Hotwater or anybody who knows: th puff-puff-puff, then a “shease” sound. A air pump? Posted from iPhone Date: 02/22/19 18:20 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: Milwaukee That is an amazing video. Awesome scenery and great to see this machine so well restored and running in that environment. You can almost hear her saying "I think I can, I think I can".
Date: 02/22/19 19:09 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: callum_out That sound is the "new" air pump which cycles about half as much as the old pump, need to hang a big
cross compound on that thing and call it good! Out Date: 02/22/19 21:16 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: mcfflyer Fantabulous! And to think it used to sit alongside US395 in Independence for decades! Amazing. And it also makes me wish I'd have gone back there to actually see it operate!

I'm happy that everybody seems to enjoy seeing her on the High Line. I certainly had fun playing in the snow while watching a great steam locomotive do its thing. And sharing with like-minded people makes it even better. Ronnie McCallay Cañon City, CO Date: 02/23/19 14:20 Re: Slim Princess SP #18 on the D&S high line Take Three Author: YardLimit Very nice!
