Steam & Excursion > The Train That Brought Both Leland Stanford & The Gold Spike!Date: 05/10/19 04:15 The Train That Brought Both Leland Stanford & The Gold Spike! Author: LoggerHogger In this rare photo we see the Central Pacific's "Jupiter" on May 9, 1869 at Monument Point, Utah on her way to Promontory. She is pulling Leland Stanford's private car with him on board. Also on board is the Gold Spike that was used the next day, on May 10, 1869 to join the rails from the East and the West. This would change our nation forever.
Stanford's private car survives to this day and is part of the Nevada State Railroad Museum Collection in Carson City, Nevada. Martin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/10/19 04:18 by LoggerHogger.
