don't know anything, but that's a beefy looking locomotive.  Airtanks on top add to the appearance.

I believe it was David P. Morgan who described the DM&IR as an appliance salesman's dream - they'd buy ANYTHING. And, that their locomotives often resembled a large magnet dragged thru the parts shop.

1219 was a class K, built by Baldwin for predecessor Duluth & Iron Range.  Similar 2-8-0 No. 332, a class C-3 built by Pittsburgh for predecesssor Duluth, Missabe & Northern, will be in steam about half the weekends this summer on 26 miles of former DM&IR track operated by the North Shore Scenic Railroad starting June 14.

The background does not look anything like the areas near the "docks" at either Duluth/Proctor nor at Two Harbors, so must be somewhere up on "the range":.

The slide looks like a duplicate slide sold by the Universal Slide Company of Beverly Hills, CA back in the 1950s.
I am proably in error though!
