Steam & Excursion > Steam at Milford, NY Viscose Co #6

This is about the same size engine as LoggerHogger post today and this engine is running today at Milford, NY.  It had a successful run to Cooperstown, NY celebrating the 150 years this trackage ran from Cooperstown Junction to Cooperstown, yesterday.  Here is Baxter standing on a US Army track car, speeder, as the #6 is about to couple to the morning train to watch a D&H crane pick up a wheel set.  Parking of cars was in the Milford Park and the Milford Park RR operated with two cars train taking arrivering folks over to the station.  It is a great 18.5" gage railway.
Weekend of 7/27-28 this locomotive will operate at Kingston, NY on the Catskill Mt. RR and be put to a grade challenge.

In the mid-1970’s, my new bride and I lived in Milford. I was assistant Master Mechanic serving the D&H at Oneonta, New York.
Ruth was working in the pediatrics department, at the Mary Imogene Bassett*  Hosoital in Cooperstown, New York.

We we’re friends with the late Walter Rich, and both posted protests with the local Zoning Borad over the imposition  of 
arbitrarily-high real estate  taxed... We were re—assessed at a slightly lower rate..HA.

It’s a great little community, and a terrific location.

Get there soon, and visit Cooperstown ...
