Steam & Excursion > Return of the Reading RamblesDate: 09/01/19 11:48 Return of the Reading Rambles Author: tehachapi-dave For the 60th Anniversary of the Reading Railroads famous Rambles fan trips in the late 1950's and early 1960's, Reading T-1 #2124 was returned to her Rambles paint scheme for a night photo shoot. The 2124 looked great, and shared the spotlight with former Reading FP7 s 903 and 902, which also pulled Rambles trips sixty years ago. Huge thank you to everyone who made this shoot happen, and to a great group of photographers that made it a fun evening!

Date: 09/02/19 10:47 Re: Return of the Reading Rambles Author: davew833 Reading #2124 is not operational. Two of the remaining 4 Reading T-1 4-8-4s are under restoration, #2100 and #2102, but at present there is not an operational steam locomotive to re-create the Rambles with.
Date: 09/02/19 10:53 Re: Return of the Reading Rambles Author: wcamp1472 You forgot that this a Gummint Operation —- 20 to 30 years ( & a museum budget @ $19,000,000/ a year) and all they got to show for it is a “some-time” 0-4-0 under steam...?
Can’t I catch a BREAK? 2124 is an eminently operable, all-roller-bearing beauty, who had simply run out her 5-year flue-time. Reading had other, ( freshly rebuilt) T-1s as “Zero-mileage” engines; including 2101... at the time that they retired 2124. W. Date: 09/02/19 16:34 Re: Return of the Reading Rambles Author: Chooch That certainly brings back tons of wonderful memories. Thank all who are responsible.
