GTW Numberplates

Who can tell me what the GTW number plates mounted below the headlight on the smokebox were made of on the 4-8-4 6300s?  Above the number was "Grand Trunk" and below "Western."  I'm thinking the number plate was cast bronze, as I remember the letters and number being polished.

They were brass and you are correct "Grand Trunk" was on the top then the number and then "Western" on the bottom.  Polished brass with red paint background.

I am enclosing a photo of one of my favorite GTW number plates from #6407.  It is a bronze plate and I love the wear marks on the face of the plate.
