Until it runs out of fuel, depending on how hard it is worked. Date: 11/16/19 10:30 Re: 4014- How Far? Author: wpjones With 81000 gals water and 6500 gals oil. The 3985 did about 10 to 1 on water verses oil so Jack is probably right on as usual.

From what I've seen Jack, not hard a tall with the diesel in the consist Date: 11/17/19 05:38 Re: 4014- How Far? Author: Spikes The oil tank and 3 water tanks might feed 4014 for about 400 miles, I assume, but lots of variables. Lets hear from the crew for a better number.

Author: up9116 I asked the UP 4014 crew that same question earlier this summer before their departure from North Platte. They told me that the amount of water in all three tenders was sufficient to last a full day on any of the runs schedules on their trips. they carry a supply of water treatment chemicals with them, and fill up each night from the local water sources, treating the water as necessary at each location.
They told me that the three tenders were set up so the water level stayed the same in all three tenders as the water was used during the day. UP9116 |
