This Engine Is Spending It's Last Days In This Enginehouse!
Author: LoggerHogger

After 1905, Mina, Nevada was the junction point for the Southern Pacific standard gauge and narrow gauge lines along the old Carson & Colorado RR.  This status gave rise to a number of railroad facilities in this isolated small town, including a sizable dual gauge enginehouse that serviced the steam motive power of both gauges.

By July, 1937, when this photo was taken of SP narrow gauge 4-6-0 #14 inside the Mina enginehouse, the traffic between Mina and Laws, California on the narrow gauge had dropped to almost nothing.  In just a few short months, in July 1938, the very last narrow gauge train would depart Mina with 3 locomotives on the head end and all the remaining narrow gauge cars left in in Mina behind them bound for the climb over Montgomery Pass and down into Laws.

#14 and her sister engines would never again rest inside the Mina enginehouse.

The 14 wound up as a Steam Supply at Colfax.
Photo attached by an unknown photographer from my collection.
Any further help would be appreciated.
