Tuff Quiz we know where but when did it get there? Class 56 2-8-0
Author: PlyWoody

Notice that giant Denver, Leadville & Gunnison number plate at Medburyville section of Wilmington, VT on the Deerfield River Railroad 3' gauge logging line one mile from the mill pond or saw mill at Mountain Mills, VT.  Just about 1918-1920.
If Mac Poor was right this would DRRR No. 2 (2nd) ex. Clarkson saw mill Co.-Missouri Southern #5, exx Colorado & Southern #35, DL&G #196, DSP&P #56. Built by Baldwin #4955 for D&RG but diverted by DSP&P purchase, class 56 design engine.
The question of when this engine was sold by dealer Hicks of Chicago and sent east to Vermont is holding up the history of the 45 mile ng logging railroad.  The loose logs are the result of a load coming off the dis-connects just one mile ftom the mill. The railroad was closed in 1921 and mill flooded in 1924.

Great photo.

The engineer is posing like he's tearing down the track, hand on the throttle, while he obviously isn't going anywhere with that woodpile behind him.
