Steam Question from the "Stooges" from 1936.
Author: ExStarlightHog

In the opening scene of "Grips, Grunts & Groans" from 1936 shows the 4321? with a two digit train number coming into a most likely SoCal station.  Anyone know what station or train that was?  Always wondered about that.  Thanks.

I thought it might be.  Thanks.  Wish I could make out the train number, but it's just too fuzzy.  Maybe one of the mail trains at the time.

I thought it looked like 26, but just a little too fuzzy to make out for me.  Too bad they didn't hold the shot a little longer.  Interesting that the engine was 4321 which is descending numerical order.  I remember having the 8968 on one of my freight runs which is still 8968 when you look at it upside down from the side window.

Ha! Just watched that one last week, I too noticed that 4321 also, may or may not be intentional, the Stooges films included many "visual puns", that might be one?

And about the 8968 thing, me and a friend were down in Tijuana, Mexico years ago and noticed a manhole cover with 1961 on it, and the 1's were straight lines, without the little curve on top, so either way, it read 1961 !, Wow Man!..beer helped too!
