On my 33rd birthday in December 1975 I chased it from my first shot at Ozol to Tracy on the Cal-P in California. Two lane road, some fog, etc. and I got eight really good shots, including a couple while driving pacing the 4449. Probably wouldn't work that way today.

In the West the display sites were spread out far enough to include some daytime running. The normal trip starts for the AFT were at 2:00am, and arrival times were simply a matter of distance. There were a few legs that were purposely done during daylight hours- but very few (Harrisburg PA and Lakeland FL are the only two I can think of off hand).
