Do you at least know where you shot the photograph?  That might help.

When I was a kid there was a pair of these operating west of Cincinnati at Addyston, Ohio.  It was called the Ohio River Coal company.  They interchanged coal cars with the New York Central there.  They had #1 and #2 that looked a lot like this engine.  But then I guess there were a lot of Saddle tankers built for this type of job.  Nice clear shot though.  Ohio River coal lasted until about 1960, and was the last steam operating in the Cincinnati area.  Engine 1 is located about 4 miles from here, as some guy bought it and has it in a building behind his garage!!!  I have gotten a glimpse of it from the road!   You never know!

Almost looks like it could be a former GW locomotive.

Yes I saw the firewood, but also behind the engine is a nice pile of coal as well.  Most likely for the engine!!!

You can see the partial outline of a Porter builder's plate on the cylinder saddle. For a clue, is there any chance that you use a magnifier on the original slide to read some (or all) of the serial number? Good luck.

Dresser Trap Rock No.1, Dresser, Wisconsin.  Now preserved at Ironhorse Central in Lindstrom, Minnesota.

And yes, it's a Porter.
