Even after following Roger's posts closely for some time now I never
realized how much desert country is out there along the line. Thanks

I guess a lot of people like the mountainous terrain out of Chama to photograph.  I do, but this area from Antonito to the Lava Flats to Toltec Gorge is stunning in its own way.

It's a long way to Chama especially in light of the fact that train isn't going there! And as to the East side, I like it better as well.

I always thought Antonito was not the end of the earth, but you could certainly see it from there.....

John Bush has noted on the Narrow Gauge Discussion forum that the railroad is running 16 car trains, which this is one, and selling them out to the 100 passenger limit and further is now running 4 days a week. So even with the CV restrictions the season is a sucess.

I hope they can run out of Chama before the season is over.
