Steam & Excursion > L&N Berkshire tenders surviving as auxiliary tenders

Could somebody share the L&N number series for when the 22 1949 Lima Berk tenders were "repurposed" as Environmental cars (used diesel loco oil) in 1962?  The numbers would have been around 4098X or so.  Many of those became the auxiliary tenders used today behind the 765, 611, 261, etc.

The Railway Equipment Directory does not list them, probably because they were not used in interchange / commercial service.  The numbers would only be found on internal L&N documents.

My intent is to pin down the original L&N Berkshire number for the NKP 765's auxiliary tender, "RPCX 767".  It got sandblasted immediately upon arrival at Fort Wayne in about 1984 and the number was lost.  It was a horrendous bile green.......

 

There were at least two Tenders painted like that on the L&N. Numbers were 40985 and 40965. Hopefully this helps you.

Maybe Ross knows the tender number that's now behind 4-8-4, C&O 614, at Clifton Forge, Va.
It looks to me to be ex-L&N...

I have read somewhere that the one currently behind 614 is ex L&N 40973. Somthing that I just realized, the tender currently used behind 611 which is ex 614B and bought by NS for use behind 1218 and 611 in 1986, was actually used by 765 on the 1984 New River Train. It should also be noted that the Tenders behind 261 and 2716 are also ex L&N tenders. EDIT: Per my records the Tender behind 261 came from L&N 1975.
