US_Whitefish_MT_2009-10-18_11@51_1833_SP_4449 This was a 'rest day' on the return trip. While stopped for the day, people worked on spiffing the loco up to builder photo quality ;-)
2. US_Libby_MT_2009-10-19_13@03_1870_SP_4449 The chase on the forth day started at Whitefish, and I had to wait for the train to get to civilization before I was really chasing again. I caught up with it at Libby, MT. 3. US_Libby_MT_2009-10-19_13@03_1871_SP_4449 He's moving here. Date: 10/13/20 10:07 Re: SP 4449 (4-8-4) Last two days of westbound chase 2009 Author: jkh2cpu 4. US_Eltopia_WA_2009-10-20_13@52_1923_SP_4449 I found this spot by talking to a fellow on the road. It was a good one to stop at.
8. US_Eltopia_WA_2009-10-20_13@52_1924_SP_4449 This is my last look at SP 4449 as it headed home for Portland, Oregon. Thanks for looking and for the comments. John. Date: 10/13/20 13:05 Re: SP 4449 (4-8-4) Last two days of westbound chase 2009 Author: agent1522 I was on the final segment from Spokane to Portland riding in the Cedar Rapids.

Except for a herd or 10 to 12 chasers, there was hardly any traffic on the road. After I took a shot, I'd let the pack get ahead of me. Some of them I never saw again, and the others I passed as they stayed at train speed and I lead-footed it to the next photo spot that I came across.

But your #5 is at Cocolalla. The pair of Advance 40 speed boards and controled signals towards the rear of the train give that away. Dave in MT Date: 10/13/20 19:08 Re: SP 4449 (4-8-4) Last two days of westbound chase 2009 Author: jkh2cpu Thanks, Dave. I'll get it changed in the morning :-)

Pictures #3 and #8 we snapped at my favorite angle when watching a locomotive at any speed. I love the action of the rods from that perspective. Thanks for posting!!
