Steam & Excursion > Georgetown LoopDate: 10/17/20 08:08 Georgetown Loop Author: PennRailVideos On Sunday Sept. 27th, a couple friends and I began our journey into Colorado with a stop at the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Here's several photos from the great operation. They were running two trains this day, one from Georgetown with steam and the other from Silver Plume with diesel.
1. Backing down over the bridge. 2. Getting a running start for the hill back up to Silver Plume. 3. On the spectacular bridge. Date: 10/17/20 08:17 Re: Georgetown Loop Author: PennRailVideos 4. By the Water Tank. The steam locomotive for the day was 2-8-0 #40, built by Baldwin in 1919 for the International Railways of Central America.
5. Coupling up to its train at Silver Plume, with other equipment throughout the yard. 6. And finally the train across the bridge viewed from the I-70 scenic overlook. Definitely should be on everyone's list of places to visit in Colorado. Just spectacular. Thanks, - Adam C.
