Actually, it was a nod to the real 767. 767 officially opened the very important elevation in downtown Fort Wayne-1955. The city requested the 767 and that is why a NKP locomotive landed in Lawton Park- leaving the possibility of future resurrection. A second nod to the original 767 is ongoing: the 765's auxiliary tender is now known as "RPCX 767".

Yours truly is at the throttle of the "767" here, and I am about 3 minutes away from making the final passenger stop in my railroading career.

I write about this moment in my 765 book.

. . . and an incredible book it is. I encourage all of my fellow steam locomotive fans to purchase it!! Rich has put together an historical and at the same time, very personal account of his time as the prime engineer on the 765. Thanks Rich for your personal and indeed permanent donation to steam railroading. You will never be forgotten.

Not my photo and I apologize to the actual photographer.  Just thought it belonged on this thread.  Thanks for all you have done, Rich.

I really like the "tonality" in that image....is tonality a real word?  But anyway it is a nice picture to look at!
