I love the video, but I must say I very much doubt that the D&RGW had such spiffy looking locomotives and cars in their final years!

Judging from the lineup of busses and cars on the road above the track, this event really drew the rail fans.  Since it was a freight, is that the way they set up the charter, so that the fans could get places along the road to photograph it?

Yes they used busses to move the paying customers.
