Sometimes a photo appears almost timeless. It is October 27, 1977 in Akron, Ohio. Cuyahoga Valley Line 4070 (ex-GTW 4070) is passing the old B&O coaling tower as 4070 is being turned on the Chessie System's wye.

Terrific photo!!!! Old computer is still crankin' them out ....

Not often so much of a scene can be representative of the past.  That WWII troop car and the unloading house definately pre-date the actual photo.  Good stuff.

Lots of Charactor...well done.  I saw 4070 2 times running and once in the roundhouse on a canceled trip.

First time was that ill-fated Jensen trip from Chicago to South Bend.  They had to run for water, so we saw a light engine at Valporaiso and the return was in the dark.

Next my dad and I went up for trip out of Cleveland, and when we got there they were working on the engine, and the trip had been scrubbed(No internet then)

Last time was a 4070 trip from Pittsburgh to somewhere.  Got a really nice one shortly after departure in the morning.  So 2 out 3 isn't bad, but your shot has more charactor.

Thanks for digging Bob.  Might want to fish all your good stuff out of that old machine. Never know when these technological wonders will give up completely.

What a great shot of the 4070 at the coaling tower.
Just think "only" 20 years before, B&O steam was still using it.
