Here we have Nickel Plate Road #765 when she was freshly restored in May, 1980.  George Redmond took these in the Toledo, Peoria & Western yard at East Peoria, Illinois.

3. #765 climbing upgrade at Farmdale, Illinois, on May 11th, 1980.

4. Later the same day near Eureka, Illinois.

5. Near Secor, Illinois, also on May 11th.

Thanks for bring back some fond memories Mary. I rode May 10th Keokuk excursion with my parents and fiancee. It turned out to be a loooooong day but still fun.

Between the stack and the steam dome, you can easily see Tom Stephens' N&W hooter whistle.  It was used quite a bit in the couple of weeks that the NKP 765 was out there on the TP&W.  I particularly remember the sound of the hooter echoing over the Illinois River bridge well after dark on the return back from La Harpe/ Keokuck.  There are lots of crew stories that I need to post some day soon, so they are not lost.

What is the history of the business car on the tail end, painted in NYC Century colors?  Where is it now?
