Also, note Dick Yager in the background. Loud, Boisterous, joking and
given "to riding-off in all directions at once..." Especially if there were live steam engines to be caught! To me, he was a joyous "hoot" to be around.. When the 4449's tender drawbar pin fell out*, near DelRio, Tx, it was Yeager that found it in the weeds and hoisted it on his shoulder, then carried it the better part of a mile, up the tracks --- then he crawled under the tender and single-handedly pushed it up, and back into place.. A 6- inch diameter steel pin by almost 4 ft long... weighs about 380 lbs He was a BEAR of strength ... Loved your picture of Doyle, above.. W. I liked him a lot, a "real hoot to be around." Knew him in Chicago days.
