( probably made of flammable material....or if its been washed, it could lose its anti-flammable, factory treatment ---- and could be more risky). Wes Camp Date: 04/16/21 17:42 Re: NKP 765 - July 21, 2012 Author: NS4271 Great photos Bob.

I do NOT understand why members of the steam crew insist on wearing those vests, when on duty in the cab. Virtually every railroad in the U.S. and Canada require the wearing of those "safety vests/jackets" WHEN ON THE GROUND! When on duty in the cab of SP4449, UP844, or UP3985, I/we did NOT wear those inside the cab, and on SP4449 we even requested that members of the Pilot Crew not wear them IN THE CAB. It really is not big deal to simply put the vest/jacket on prior to getting down on the ground. As a footnote, the reason people will pay $700-$800 for a day of a steam photo charter, where there are NO green vests.

NOT what you want to wear in the cab of a steam locomotive. 100% cotton only! Posted from Android Date: 04/16/21 18:42 Re: NKP 765 - July 21, 2012 Author: pennsy3750 Keystone1 Wrote:

The level of brazen entitlement in this statement is simply mind-boggling, even for you. > As a footnote, the reason > people will pay $700-$800 for a day of a steam > photo charter, where there are NO green vests. I am aware of a well-known steam operation where the track's contract operator requires vests, even on a charter. Date: 04/16/21 18:46 Re: NKP 765 - July 21, 2012 Author: justalurker66 As long as they are keeping the trains running they can wear what they want. Especially private entities such as FWRRHS.

Your damn photos are NOT paying the bills to operate this machine, and while we ALL have our personal wishes and desires, they don't mean diddly squat in the overall Scheme. Despite your unbelievable sense of entitlement, deadhead moves and standard passengers excursions are NOT operated for YOUR personal pleasure. When and ONLY when you pay money to participate in an "authentic" period correct photo run by do you have ANY right to complain about such trivial things as what the FWRHS engine crews wear in the cab. Also keep in mind that SOME of the people in the cab will be Norfolk Southern employees, and their rules MAY require that the vest be worn at ALL times, whether those rules make a lick of sense at all. Do you want somebody to risk getting fired so you can have your perfect precious damn photo? Your sense of self entitlement is so far off the charts that it defies explanation. I would gladly donate money to insure you NEVER again lay eyes on NKP 765 as long as the both of us shall live. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/16/21 19:49 by junctiontower. When was the last time any of you that are crying about the green vest and are part of a non-profit or for profit actually ran your locomotive on the main line? When was the last time any of you ran a steam locomotive at 70 mph? When's the last time any of your locomotive has been in a mainline steam program? When's the last time your locomotive went over horse shore curve? Are any of you that's crying running your locomotive this year? If you don't like the green vest buy a ticket then you won't see the dam thing or get your locomotive out and run out on the main and show how non-lazy people do it. FWRHS cares about safety and their passengers, they don't run 765 for people to be cheap and chase it and get free pictures. If you don't like it then pay the $700 or $800 to do a photo charter. The green vest is required on NS when your on the ground, it's better to have it on and forget about it, than to forget to put it on when getting out of the cab. LAZY? FWRHS is a professional nonprofit group that has ran on every major railroad east of the Mississippi, many short lines and multiple times at 70 mph. FWRHS group is many, many things, but lazy isn't one of them. Posted from Android Date: 04/17/21 07:34 Re: NKP 765 - July 21, 2012 Author: Train29 In the U.K. even the participants on PRIVATE charters are required to wear orange vests. The crews generally do not. However the vests often reflect in the sides of locomotives and carriages. And get in the way of photographing elements other that he train such as crossing guards and station personnel even on heritage railways. The U.K. seems to be obsessed with the vests...much more so than Europe. They are basically everywhere. And of course more recently masks are causing the same issues as safety vests on charters.

I love seeing the older excursions on the Paducah and Louisville and Toledo Peoria, and Western. A ride on the Lake States Railway or Indiana Railroad would be fun.
