The 717 sits on the sand and fuel track in Ft Worth with a white substance applied to rods in several places checking to see if any are cracked.  It probably has already passed the check and soon the booster equipped 4-6-2 will back into position to have its sand dome filled along with its fuel bunker.   In later years it will also receive a 15,000 gallon tender from a retired 2-10-2 replacing the  approx 8,000 gallon tender shown in the photo. Note her new box pok drivers giving it a much smoother and faster ride.

Keeping track of the modifications that the T&P made to its locomotives over the years would take a lot of time and space.   Over the years,many of the  larger locomotive on the roster got multiple upgrades in terms of Drivers, Tenders, Cylinders, Trailing Trucks etc but not every locomotive in a class got the same upgrades.  Some got only one driver set, others got more than one, but not all, others got all drivers replaced.  Really sort of amazing what the Marshall Shops could do.
