Author: LoggerHogger During WW-2 this nation's railroads needed to operate at full capacity, and then some. This meant that repairs to the railroad's vital equipment was performed without delay and with all personnel need to assist in the repairs.
Here, in 1944 AT&SF #3725 is riding on one of Santa Fe's turntables that clearly is under repair at the time. From the looks of things, they appear to have engaged the assistance of an army soldier and his Power Wagon to aid in the repair. For the time being, he may be supplying the power to spin the turntable until the repairs are completed. The umbrella demonstrates just how hot the temperatures could be on the Santa Fe system. It's a M-37 3/4 Ton Weapons Carrier. And the bloody things were almost indestructable. They were still in use during the Vietnam war. Author: LoggerHogger Dodge started using the term "Power Wagon" in 1946 for the civilian version of the same truck that they had built during the War for the Army.
