Excellent picture. Rods down. Matching train. No unnecessary crap on engine. Sun perfect. Wonderful!

Two small sized American flags would heve moved it from a 9 to a 10.

I am sure glad that I got out to see this operation!  It was wonderful while it lasted!  Never put anything off,  you never know what is around the corner!

Ross......I put in 6 years of my life from 1964-1970.  Frankly, nobody today even gives a damn.  They were the most consistently miserable years of my life.  If I had to do it over...I would have somehow gotten out of it.  I was in the Army infantry.  BTW, what branch did you serve in Ross?

What in it's history occurred that it runs forward --- with the Walschaert
radius bar in the top of the reverse link?

I also presume the eccentric crank is 180-deg opposite the
conventional orientation...

?Could it be that's its 'outside admission' piston valves, from
an earlier conversion, following addition of an early superheater?

Its an interesting beast ...
?Was it ever at Blount's museum, at N. Walpole, NH?

( 4- years USAF, 1960-64, 15-months Keesler AFB, tech school, Biloxi, MS & posted to
Great Falls, Mt into '64... very proud to have served; got-out rather than re-up for an
opportunity to go to Viet Nam... just in time to catch the last year of the Reading Rambles.
Met RR in November '66; life changed forever....)

I served in the US Army 1957-1963. 6 months active duty Army ( Basic training Ft.Dix NJ) tank traing Ft.Knox, Ky. then 5 years NJMG 50th. Armored Division, Westfield NJ Armory.

Our tanks predated the Abhrams tanks by 30 years and had no a/c. When buttoned up for combat on a summer day the interior temp. must have been at least 110. The only thing I've ever been in hotter than a steam locomotive cab.

   Great memories. Thanks, Ross Rowland

Ross....I too did basic at Fort Dix, and served at Ft. Knox.   The armor museum at Knox was interesting, and tank firing ranges were good for a day.....but six years of this?   It is something like 1% of the population...or less...even raise their right hand.   I'll never get that time back...and no one gives a damn anyway.
