Hobo Railroad's diesel 105
Author: Pattenburg

is looking good in its new paint livery as it starts the 1 PM excursion during the first week in July. April 8 was the date that this locomotive rolled out of the Hobo RR's Lincoln (NH) engine house sporting its dark red color paint scheme. Born in August 1971, this EMD-SW1000 has spent it's life in New Orleans (LA) as a working member of the New Orleans Public Belt. Operating as Locomotive #1001, its number has since been changed to its original number #105.
Photo 1 - Shows the July 9th excursion stopping at the Hobo RR's southern terminus, Jack-O-Lantern Golf Resort in Woodstock.
Photo 2 - has the July 7th excursion crossing North Station Road with its four car consist.
Photo 3 - has the July 9th excursion backing across Route 112 in Lincoln and heading back to Hobo Junction.

"Share the Road"?

I'd let the locomotives have the "whole road" ---- I ain't gonna risk
sharing with a 125-ton switcher!
( especially if I'm on a bike!!!)

He can have all the road he needs!!

You don't know many bike riders, do you?  In their eyes the WHOLE road belongs to them.
Not all of them are this arrogant, but enough are to given them all a bad rep.

Any of the "arrogant ones"  'win'  in arguing with 125-ton loco?
I don't think so.

( aside:  it's amazing that many sadder-but-wiser folks don't understand that rail
cars can be 11ft wide, and tracks are  under 5 ft wide..

"Oh, I've parked far enough away from the tracks!...'.
CRUNCH!!!

The "Share the Road" sign is oriented towards drivers operating vehicles traveling from the left to the right of the photo.  It has nothing to do with the train,

Right you are of course, but that sign in juxtaposition to the on-coming train invites that joke :-)

Beware the red-zone of the tracks!

You're assuming that they actually know or respect the laws of physics, i.e. he with the greater mass wins.
Trust me, they don't.

Newton's , little-known, 4th Law!
"Most massive object wins."

Love it!

Years ago, when I subscribed to sports car mags, one of the shops that
built dragsters, etc, had a sign that had Newton's 3 Laws burned-into the wood
planks , and proudly displayed on the shop walls.

In pic 3, sharp eyes might note one of the Roger Williams cab cars on the east leg of the wye to the right of the excursion train.  The B&M-themed Geep on the left side is actually an ex-NP GP-9 repainted by the MBTA during its time as a work train unit.

Once passing in a series of track car, one golf ball hit the windshield of a car and the goffer came right over handed his card and $100 to cover it.  Think it all worked out
