Steam & Excursion > The Heritage Of This Railroad Was Apparent From The Steam Power!Date: 10/06/21 03:31 The Heritage Of This Railroad Was Apparent From The Steam Power! Author: LoggerHogger Certain steam motive power is so distinctive that you can recognize the railroad that operated it at just a glance. Such was the case with the Union Pacific steam power as we see in this image of UP #7850 leading a double-headed passenger train out of Los Angelas in March, 1946.
You don't have to look twice to know that this is big UP steam power in action. Martin Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 10/06/21 03:38 by LoggerHogger. Maybe a train of happy GI's. Date: 10/06/21 12:42 Re: UP Author: agentatascadero It does not help that the number boards are obscured, or we might have had a train number for ID. I see two streamlined cars up front. I'm thinking brand new streamlined cars would not be utilized on a troop train. My vote is for a section of a regularly scheduled train.
Time for a consultation with the closest Official Guide.....I have a '42 and a '48....will report back. AA Stanford White Carmel Valley, CA Date: 10/06/21 21:56 Re: UP Author: timz No one knows whether it's westward or eastward
or where it is, so the timetable won't help much. Scanned using Book ScanCenter 7131 (wx4.org) Date: 10/06/21 23:31 Re: UP Author: JimBaker My best guess is that it is Eastbound out of LA.
