Trackcars on the RBMN!
Author: Pattenburg

This past Saturday and Sunday found me along the ROW of Reading & Blue Mountain's tracks. The reason for being there was that a fifty track car excursion was to travel from Pittston, PA to Reading on Saturday, overnight in Reading and follow that same route back on Sunday. One could not ask for any better weather than what I had. Ample sunshine and warm temperatures was the forecast for those two days. Here are some of the photos from that excursion.
Photo 1: Coming into White Haven for lunch, the arriving track cars are forewarned that a stop is being made here by the former LVRR's engine house. It is now White Haven's library and visitor center with a small display of railroading history and photographs.
Photo 2: Some of the fifty track cars that participated in this two-day excursion.
Photo 3: How nice was Saturday's weather? It was so nice that these two riders were able to enjoy the scene as they crossed over the former LVRR bridge that spans the Lehigh River on the outskirts of White Haven.

More photos of the trip...
Photo 4. In 1935 the Milwaukee Road introduced the Hiawatha, sometimes referred to as the Twin Cities Hiawatha, a passenger train that would spawn a whole fleet of famous trains by the same name. Dave Tori's track car honors that train with its paint scheme. It is seen crossing the Lehigh River near White Haven.
Photo 5: A track car representing The Milwaukee Road passes through the former facility of Kovatch Fire Truck Company. Reading & Northern Railroad has acquired this industrial complex, a nine-building, 10-acre complex, located in Nesquehoning.
Photo 6: Passing over the Lehigh River at Glen Onoko, one of the track car occupants records its trip through the gorge.
