Steam excursion on the P&LE
Author: MGA2300

Back around 1972, my family rode a steam excursion the left the P&LE station in Pittsburgh, PA to Belle Vernon, PA on P&LE trackage. I remember we debarked the train in Belle Vernon right under the I-70 bridge and waited for the train to head to Brownsville, PA to be turned. After what seemed like forever, the train returned with the steamer running tender first. Rumors where that it wouldn’t fit on the turntable in Brownsville. Can any member shed some more details or even pics of this train? I have only a few snapshots in my mind as I was only 7 years old at the time. Thanks in advance!!

A Shot in the Dark but, Reading 2102? lettered "Allegheny". It ran a trip over (I believe P&LE) in 1976, Not sure about 1972 though. 2102 did run in 1972 so maybe it did run a trip over P&LE, Possibly not many pictures or documentation.
