Steam & Excursion > One for Frisco1522Date: 08/13/22 07:23 One for Frisco1522 Author: pennsy3750 To be honest I hadn't noticed a decline in the Steam & Excursions forum aside from Martin Hansen's departure. (And I now see his postings on Facebook.) I've been on TO for at least 15 years now, and it ebbs and flows; though we do seem to be ebbing right now. Anyhow, here's something for Don that's not the C&TS, and I don't think consumer drones were a thing when I shot this.
Grand Canyon Railway #4960, doing a runby in the high desert on Pete Lerro's first GCRY trip in May 2011. I don't know the exact location, but it must be somewhere near Milepost 35, as that's what I built into the file name when I got back from the trip. Every now and then you'd catch a whiff of the "WVO" they were using for fuel, and it smelled like burned onion rings. Date: 08/13/22 07:42 Re: One for Frisco1522 Author: Frisco1522 Thank you! NIce shot, great lighting.
Its also possible that some of the frequent posters have passed or have health issues. I used to thoroughly enjoy posts by Choo Choo Charlie of some eastern steam roads back in the '40s. I enjoy seeing Martin's posts on FB. A pleasant break from contemporary stuff or bloody nose SP diesels. Date: 08/13/22 09:00 Re: One for Frisco1522 Author: refarkas Beautiful image.

A commercial for Sonic? I think my Dad laid some sort of Brotherhood password on the engineer and he invited us up. That was back around 60-61.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be running a steam loco up and down that same route 30+ years later. Date: 08/13/22 16:56 Re: One for Frisco1522 Author: pennsy3750 MaryMcPherson Wrote:

I've aquired it. (Also, this has been said for PRR steam power.) But, I like 'em both, "Q" and Canyon, that is. -LD (Ex "Q" employee from back in the days 4960 and 5632 were still "Q" ambassadors) |
