UP/IAIS Hospital Tain
Author: RailRyder

Here we are this morning crossing the Cedar River in Moscow, Iowa with winds at about 30 mph and the real feel index at about 10 degress with blowing snow. But it was worth it!

Look up Lock and Dam # 15, Moline, Illinois. For aerial pictures...
The bridge is two decks, one vehicular traffic, upper is rail, double track...

Been over that bridge many times, when I was MM at Silvis Shops, 1978-1980..
Its a fantastic facility...but, maybe a lot of its valuable machine tools were
auctioned-off?

I enjoyed my 5 years with the ROCK, even though, it was at the end..
The mechanical dept folks were decent, hard workers....more friendly,
the further away you got from the Chicago HQ.

W.

I hope everyone recognizes all Henry Posner has done, and continues to do, for railway preservation.  Thank you, Henry.

I'll second that. Mr. Posner does a whole lot behind the scenes and deserves all of our gratitude.

The good news is that they made it to Silvis around 3:30pm today which is real close the schedule published way back on the UP Steam Club website.

Congratulations to Ed Dickens and his crew for a job well done !!

I stopped by for a quick shot of (part of) the crowd at Moscow on my way to Wilton.

Good video!

Glad they made it safe and sound! Now comes the fun part after tomorrow, resurrecting 3985, 5511, and 6936!

Wow, great video! I got chills watching it - and not just because of the snow/wind/ice.
Imagine these steam locomotives under steam leading trains back in the day. What a sight they were

Something about that video on Heritage Facebook page showing 6936/3985/5511 going into thier individual stalls is very heart warming (?)
I kinda got a little choked up watching it (no joking!)
Thanks for the link, I saved and will follow Heritage page

Thanks for the chilly video Jim!
"Shiver Me Timbers"
There was a time I could withstand that kind of weather in my younger days just to get a railroad video done up in Idaho/Northern Nevada, don't think I could stand that anymore?

I was just west of here filming the train when the snow squall hit. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the chase, totally unexpected and made for some awesome pictures. It was very cold, but as was said above, definitely worth it!
