I've been wanting to see the narrow gauge in person for decades, but something has always come up that demanded our attention to push it aside.  2023 is the year we plan to make it happen!

I'm glad the schedule is up early. There will be more Special Trains like the #168 (after repair), I'm sure. But the regular daily train can provide you with an amazing experience, even early in the season.

I always believe the best way to fully enjoy the railroad is to start from Antonito, enjoy the climb to Big Horn, Sublette, Phantom Curve, Mud and Rock Tunnels, Osier (lunch), then Cascade trestle, Tanglefoot curve, Cumbres Pass, Windy Point and down to Chama. Stay overnight in Chama and chase the train the following morning to Cumbres. I would estimate that only one-third of the riders from Chama go beyond Osier, instead taking the train back to Chama from there and missing travel along Toltec Gorge and the other locations east of Osier. The scenery from Osier to Antonito is the more spectactular IMO but some riders consider it boring once past Big Horn. That is why I always say start from Antonito and travel west.
