I scanned a lot of my photography a number of years ago, and am going through everything again to do a better job of it.

Here we have Union Pacific #844's appearance at the 1990 NRHS convention in St. Louis.

1-3.  I shot two cameras at once at Worden, Illinois, as #844 hauled her convention excursion.  One camera with slide film was on a tripod, while the second with black & white was handheld on along with it.

4-6. The theme of the day was pacers and crazy drivers kept us from seeing much of anything, despite driving a few hundred miles while trying to chase.  At Pana, Illinois, we gave up and went to lunch.  We at least got some pacing shots as the train (and the pack) blew by us.  Bob Kreiger was firing on this day.

7-8.  Once we were able to catch the interstate, we did manage to get ahead of the train at Worden.  I crouched in the weeds for a pair of coming and going shots.  We didn't see the train again.

9. On the evening of June 16th, #844 is steaming at St. Louis Union Station with #1218's tender a couple of tracks over.

I agree, sad how UP's Steam Program's as bad as Ammanagement!

Silvis isn't getting the 844.  It is still part of the UP Steam Program.
Silvis got 3985 and 5511.

Wow... do I ever feel your consternation here! I have more "stuff" to scan than I'll ever live long enough for. Yet I am finding myself more & more going back to rescan a lot of my early HP stuff. It makes sense, though. It's just human nature to scan your best stuff first when you're just starting out on such a massive task...
