Western Maryland Scenic Railroad operating again today.
Author: ClubCar

For those of you who wish to know, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is operating another charter trip for someone again today with the steam engine 1309 still lettered as Chesapeake and Ohio.  I have no idea whether or not it is chartered by Mr. Pete Lerro.

Not a great day for photo charter.  Cold but BIG wind chill.  Wind is not great for steam videos or standing on the photo line.  Wasn't that a James Bond movie...Cold Finger??? ;>)

Thank you bigsavage, I did not know this and I must not have seen your reply.

Yes it was cold.   Frostburg (aptly named) was 15 degrees with wind chill factor of -3, in the middle of the day.   I have never been so cold on a charter.  The light was indeed fleeting but some good things were had.  (see other post from today)  Beauty is pain....

If you grow up there, you either learn to live with it, or you take the first opportunity to flee elsewhere. I don't regret living 100 miles to the east, and only visiting in the warmer seasons...

Of course you can be burned in April, as those of us on the infamous aborted 734 charter found out the hard way on 4/2/2016; temps in the 20s and 30s, snow flurries, and a broke down, worn out 734.
Imaginary conversation for photo #3:
Gosh John, what do we do now?
Well, Joe, haul 'em back to Cumberland and tell 'em what a great day they had for their $225.00!
