It'll be insteresting to find out more information about the history. You'd think that having volunteered at the ORHC since 2012, I would know more about the history of the TT but I guess I've always concentrated more on locomotive history.
Thanks for the picture Arlen. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/09/23 08:56 by Jsporseen. Date: 02/09/23 11:18 Re: ORHC - turntable builder's plates Author: nycman This project continues to be fascinating in this day and age. Thank you Arlen and JSP for keeping us current.

similar "date of Record Plate" to commemorate the complete, 2023, reconstruction of the TT and the new TT pit. it would be fitting to add the new plate, similar in style, to these existing plates, as they get attached to the TT. What do you think? Wes Camp Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/09/23 11:45 by wcamp1472. Date: 02/09/23 12:47 Re: ORHC - turntable builder's plates Author: Elesco The patent shown on one of the plates, "Continuous Turntable," refers to the concept of supporting the bridge at 3 or more points, not just at the center bearing as had been common with earlier turntables.
This concept is clearly described in the booklet Standard Railway Turntables, published by the American Bridge Company in 1923: https://digitalarchives.powerlibrary.org/papd/islandora/object/papd%3Apcalo-ishc_2852?search=%2522standard%2520railway%2520turntables%2522 Date: 02/09/23 18:44 Re: ORHC - turntable builder's plates Author: Lurch_in_ABQ Elesco, thanks for American Bridge link.

opener to see a 1924 turntable being rebuilt and installed new in 2023. Out |
