Steam & Excursion > A View From The Dark SideDate: 03/22/23 09:31 A View From The Dark Side Author: MaryMcPherson Night photo sessions are neat. I can see why the popularity. Hanging out with like-minded individuals and shooting recreations of classic scenes is cool.
The one thing I try to avoid is the lighting rig to get my shots. Examples are these shots from a session with Southern Railway #401 at Monticello in 2018. 1. The actors were having a word while #401 was being positioned for the next setup. The available light candid was one of my favorite shots of the shoot. 2. With the lights on, I repositioned to the dark side to get a little more "feel" to the shot. 3. With everyone shooting on the engineer's side, I wandered back behind the locomotive to get this shot on the fireman's side with the floodlights backlighting the scene. I guess that does make me quite contrary..... All very well done indeed. Thanks! MC Date: 03/22/23 16:48 Re: A View From The Dark Side Author: nycman Instead of making you "quite contrary" it makes you quite artistic. Thanks for those, Mary.
