With just 3 trips scheduled on Sunday, it was best to pick a spot and hangout. Strasburg is not a place for chasing, given all the Amish buggies on the surrounding roads, plus the more reckless fans from foreign places like New Jersey... At noon time, 611 meets N&W 475 and its train at Groff's Grove, then pulls out on the main and accelerates up the 1.2-1.5% grade westbound. With a heavy proportion of younger railfans out Sunday, definitely a different crowd than one meets on an R&N charter, or one put on by Lerro or Franz. As the Pennsylvanians passed, 611 blew its whistle, and 15 railfans exhaled. 611 left town westbound almost immediately, and within ten minutes all of the spectators and railfans also departed. I'll cover #475's adventures later this week. Till next time, 611, wherever that may be... BTW, this meet is also on the Virtual Railfan's 5/22/23 "grab bag" at 6:06 on the video.
