"Lifting steam engines for 110 years. Today, working in the same place railroaders did in 1913, crews at Ogden Shops lifted 2816 back onto its wheels. This summer, a refurbished 2816 will cross North America to celebrate the creation of CPKC and the connecting of 3 nations.--CPKC on Twitter

There's been some 2816 posts on CPKC's Facebook for a while now. They've been working on 2816 for a while now too.

It’s the railroad’s official twitter account. If the railroad posted it, safe bet it’s true.

Believe it. They have been VERY busy on 2816, even up-grading the driver axle bearings to pressure feed oil lubrication on babbitted crown bearings (all per SP drawings, just like the GS-4 and AC-12 class locomotives).

Curious if Bill Stettler is involved this time around also?

Cheers, Dave

No. Bill now works for Amtrak as an Engineer in the "commute service" between LA and San Diego.

For more info see:https://railfan.com/cpkc-says-steam-locomotive-2816-to-run-this-summer/

Notes the Auxiliary tender info.... "Earlier this spring, an auxiliary tender from Southern Pacific 4-8-4 (No.) 4449 was sent north to Alberta to be prepared for service with the Canadian locomotive"

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Mr. Stetler from being apart of this project in its current state or during the tour over the summer.

Speaking as one who saw his regular assignment vacant from the Oceanside Extraboard for Metrolink a few weeks ago.

And before it’s asked…no he wasn’t on vacation either…nor was he in his annual rules training.
