I fail to understand that switch in the 3rd shot, it has to derail. Date: 06/03/23 11:39 Re: EBT - June 2nd - More Photos Author: HotWater pt199 Wrote:

It is a standard 3-way stub switch. The big tall operating lever moves the track so as to align with each of the three available track routes. Date: 06/03/23 12:37 Re: EBT - June 2nd - More Photos Author: wcamp1472 Any path, approaching from the 'frogs' area, that is NOT aligned to
the stock rails, will derail. Proceeding from the stock rails, traffic will be directed to one of 3 choices. Note also, that there are 3 notches on the harp switch stand. The advantage over 'conventional' switches is that you'd need extended ground space to allow the placement of two, two-way switches-- and yes, I've seen 'compressed' conventional switches that involve two switch-stands, several 'frogs' --- all compressed together, and occupying much more land. The 3-way stub switch, above, is an elegant solution, that takes up mimium real estate. And it solves a problem in a tight situation. W. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/03/23 12:39 by wcamp1472.
