Brian Black Castle Rock, CO. Date: 06/04/23 11:47 Re: Yesterday's Grand Canyon Railway steam powered train Author: kennbritt Excellent! I rode the 4960 CB&Q trips from Omaha to Lincoln and back as a kid. I hope to be on the train for the July trip. Thank you for posting!
Kennard Britton Date: 06/04/23 11:57 Re: Yesterday's Grand Canyon Railway steam powered train Author: Frisco1522 Used to ride 4960 trips in late 50s-early 60s out of St. Louis. Had a typical Burlington "woofing" exhaust back then. Nice bark now.
Glad she is still active. An old warrior. Date: 06/04/23 12:04 Re: Yesterday's Grand Canyon Railway steam powered train Author: UP951West Very well done ! Your video was a lift today for me. Thanks for sharing.

I "played" engr in the cab of 4960 when I was a kid and she was stored at Mid-Continent Rwy Museum back in the late 60's, early 70's. Would love to see her in person, but your video's the next best thing to being there, indeed!

I think in its rebuilt state 4960 is one of the best looking locomotives in the US. Yes I’m biased. In 2019 during a Trains magazine photo event, at a dinner presentation, one of the crew talked about 4960. While it does burn waste food oils, it also relies on regular waste oil. He said it’s annoying when a piece of french fry gets stuck in the system. Keep an eye on the Grand Canyon Rwy website, they are planning some other activities with the engine later on in the year. I think due to its 100th birthday. Thanks again for the video.

Great steam action and whistle. Also absolutely love how the last ding sound fades away on those real metal xing bells, Jim Baker Riverside, CA Date: 06/05/23 11:50 Re: Yesterday's Grand Canyon Railway steam powered train Author: RFandPFan ProAmtrak Wrote:

Is there just the one NMRA train on Saturday? The NMRA website is confusing. It shows GC excursions on three days. Thanks. Posted from iPhone Edited 1 time(s).
